The second largest international organization after the United Nations
The organization was established by a decision issued at the historic summit held in Rabat, Morocco, on the 12th of Rajab 1389 AH (corresponding to September 25, 1969) in response to the crime of burning the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem. The first Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers was held in 1970 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where it was decided to establish a General Secretariat with its headquarters in Jeddah, headed by a Secretary-General of the organization. Ambassador Hussein Ibrahim Taha is considered the twelfth Secretary-General of the organization, having assumed this position in November 2021. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is considered the second largest international organization after the United Nations, with 57 member states spread across four continents. The organization represents the united voice of the Islamic world and strives to protect its interests and express them in support of international peace and harmony, while enhancing relations between the various peoples of the world.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the second largest international organization after the United Nations, with fifty-seven member states spread across four continents.
The organization represents the united voice of the Islamic world, seeking to protect its interests and express them in support of international peace and harmony, while enhancing relations between the various peoples of the world.
The organization was established by a decision issued at the historic summit held in Rabat, Morocco, on the 12th of Rajab 1389 AH (corresponding to September 25, 1969) in response to the crime of burning the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
In 1970, the first Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where it was decided to establish a General Secretariat with its headquarters in Jeddah, headed by a Secretary-General of the organization. Ambassador Hussein Ibrahim Taha is considered the twelfth Secretary-General of the organization, having assumed this position in November 2021.
