OIC, Arab League, African Union sign joint coordination mechanism on support for Palestine cause
RIYADH (UNA) – Under the patronage of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in the presence of a number of foreign ministers of the member states, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and Ambassador Nader Fath Al-Alim, representing the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, participated in signing the joint coordination mechanism between the three organizations regarding support for the Palestinian cause, on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit held today, Monday, November 11, 2024, in Riyadh.
This step comes as an affirmation of the joint commitment to enhancing cooperation, coordination and partnership between the three organizations based on their founding documents and the decisions issued by them regarding Palestine, as well as the common values of justice, peace, and anti-colonialism, oppression and racial discrimination.
This mechanism includes enhancing joint efforts at the political, legal, humanitarian, media and cultural levels to support and back the rights of the Palestinian people who are subjected to brutal aggression, genocide, displacement and systematic destruction by the Israeli occupation forces.
Within the framework of this joint mechanism, the three organizations will coordinate positions and movements in international forums, facilitate regular exchange of views, and organize joint events, meetings and workshops to support Palestine.
The Secretary-General of the Organization, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, also appreciated the Saudi sponsorship of the signing of this mechanism, which is an addition to the great efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the Palestinian cause.
