Construction of Dubai’s first air taxi station begins

The Emirate of Dubai has begun taking serious and real steps towards launching the first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport. This step aims to provide a new and advanced means of transportation within the city that attracts the most tourists from around the world, with the station set to be completed by the first quarter of 2026. The ambitious project, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, represents a qualitative leap in the public transportation system.

The air taxi station extends over an area of ​​3,100 square meters, and includes a modern building with parking spaces, in addition to two areas designated for take-off and landing, as well as parking for air taxi vehicles, other stations for charging them, and air-conditioned facilities to receive passengers.

The station aims to achieve a maximum capacity of 42,000 landings annually, and to provide its services to about 170,000 passengers annually, which reflects the Emirate of Dubai’s readiness to receive large numbers of users of this advanced service soon.

According to the Dubai Government Media Office, the project will be implemented and operated in cooperation with global operators, including Joby, which will manufacture and operate the air taxi vehicles, in addition to managing passenger traffic. There will also be cooperation with Sky Ports, which will design, implement and operate the necessary infrastructure for the stations.

Official launch of the service in 2026

The air taxi service in the Emirate of Dubai is expected to officially launch in the first quarter of 2026 under the supervision of the Roads and Transport Authority in the emirate, which will regulate the operation process and ensure the integration of the service with various means of transportation, in line with the project’s timetable.
